Postdoctoral Scholars

About the Position

The Wang lab at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking one postdoc to work on projects related to the application of protein-based nanomaterials and biocatalysis in 1) the removal of micropollutants (e.g., PFAS), 2) the recovery of critical metals from waste, and 3) CO2 sequestration. There will be an opportunity to contribute to graduate and undergraduate mentoring and develop new research areas; the University of Pittsburgh has a strong postdoctoral mentorship program and avenues for pursuing internal research funding for pilot projects. 

The successful applicant will possess a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, or related fields, and have an excellent academic record. The candidate should have extensive experience in synthetic biology, protein expression, purification, and characterization, and biocatalysis/enzyme catalysis.

The appointment will be for one year with the possibility for an extension based on satisfactory performance and continued availability of funding. The start date is negotiable but preferably before May 2024. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
